Welcome to POESY

Welcome to Poesy! This site is designed to allow poets a professional and comfortable artistic forum where they can post their poetry, send and receive feedback, be informed of poetic events, be linked to other poetry sites, participate in any events, join our chat room, and other related features. I also have posted works from classic English poets such as Shelley, Keats, Byron, Shakespeare, and Gray, as well as other poets of renown as Yeats, American poets, Poe, Frost, T.S. Eliot (yes, later English), and including contemporary American poetry (yes, even free verse is allowed). You will also find those sonnets I have completed in my translation and analysis of the entire Shakespearean collection of sonnets. So, come on in, like the gentlemen (we allow women here) in the tavern scene above, and enjoy your stay.

(This painting, above, is also known as "Shakespeare and His Friends at the Mermaid Tavern." Sir Walter Raleigh created the "Friday Street Club," a gathering of men of letters who met at the "Mermaid Tavern"; the club was named for the address--Friday Street--of the tavern. The owner of the "Mermaid," William Johnson, was a business associate of Shakespeare, but we do not know if Shakespeare actually attended the meetings. In the painting, which Richard Altick calls a "kind of Tudor hall of fame," Faed puts Shakespeare in the center of the group, which includes Sir Francis Bacon, John Donne, Ben Jonson, and Sir Walter Raleigh. )
