My First Muse
When the sun on this earth first shone
And, so, its day first born
The world was no longer alone
For on that day your love did dawn.
For Heaven could not this place create
And history not then follow
Unless love was our final fate
And I knew you were there tomorrow.
And Heaven let one of its angels free
So that the spirit of this place could guide
And the promise realized when you came to me
This world never barren when you’re by my side.
And, now, as the curtain on my day here falls
As I must, all I have known here, leave behind
I know that in Heaven your love still calls
For love such as yours, where born, again find.
