Happy Holidays
I pretend to celebrate the holiday cheer
Who am I fooling, it is not true
The joy I feel is only when you are here
1 am left with only the motions to go through.
And a poet wrote better to have loved and lost
But losing you has left me so empty
For losing love, how high the cost?
What new love bring what you gave to me?
I hope every one else enjoyed their day
An empty chair at the table I knew
Once filled by a love I thought would stay
A lonely meal without the company of you.
And now the next holidays will arrive
So, I must pretend in their joy to share
That I only felt when your love did arrive
Now these holidays, instead, must bear.
