Your Light Heaven Knows
I have not had the time
To write anything here
And I couldn’t think of the time
When into my life you would appear.
And, anyway, timeless love has left its mark
Here where I only express my doubts
And when I finally succumb to the dark
And your vision my doubt routs.
Let this show my meaning;
She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.1
So, now I look forward to the day’s dawning
So the brightness give my dreams new light
And I know Heaven must be fawning
Its own home also needs your light.
